Please find below some home learning ideas. They are not subject specific but they are fun and help to build skills and resilience. They might also come in handy for the Easter holidays.


Google Search Challenge

Each week day the team from Edtech Team Uk publish a Google Search challenge, the idea of this activity is to try and improve the search skills of students. They set a challenge for secondary students and a one for primary students the challenges can be found here


Minecraft challenge

Minecraft is a great way of developing design and planning skills, this 30 days of Minecraft challenge helps children to slowly build their Minecraft skills as well as having some fun.


Lego Challenge

Another lovely challenge for KS3 students and maybe even KS4 students is for them to rediscover their Lego with this 30 day Lego challenge



Doodle Challenge

If your child enjoys drawing and doodling they may like to engage with the 30 day doodle challenge.



Doodle your world

Digital drawing is a relatively new skill, if your child has an iPad and stylus they could try the Doodle your world activities. They will need to download a book and then a Keynote template from the link in the book. Lots of fun whilst learning about other parts of the planet!

GCSE Bitesize

The BBC site GCSE Bitesize has recently been updated and is great for activities for our KS4 students.

Coding Ideas

Apple have an app called Swift Playgrounds which is a fun way to introduce children to the Apple programming language Swift through a series of well organised puzzles. You will need a MacBook or an iPad in order to download it from the app store but it is free.

The Girls Who Code website is offering free online courses about coding which can be found here

KPMG is offering a free 10 week course on the coding language Python beginning on Tuesday 7th April at 2pm watch this video for further details.

Wide Open School

Wide open school has curated a collection of free and open learning activities for children and families, it is well worth a look.

TED - Ed

TED - Ed offers lessons and questions based on TED talks

Virtual Museum Tours

A number of famous museums worldwide are offering free virtual tours of their collections.

The National Theatre

Every Thursday evening the National theatre is showing a full performance of selected plays on their You Tube Channel, they are the available for 7 days after their first showing. Not all plays are suitable for all ages so, please check their suitability before you tune in.

The Shows Must Go On

If theatre and plays aren't your thing, maybe musicals are. Universal are showing an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical each Friday at 7pm and then for 7 days thereafter on their You Tube channel
